WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Olympic men's champions Fiji and women's gold medalist Australia took out the Oceania Rugby Sevens titles in Fiji on Saturday.

The Fiji men, who claimed the first Olympic gold medal for a Pacific Island nation at the Rio de Janiero Games in September, beat Samoa 28-19 in the men's final, finishing unbeaten at the tournament.

Fiji led 14-5 at halftime and opened a 21-5 lead early in the second half before Samoa rallied to close the margin to 21-19. Fiji went the length of the field late in the match for the decisive try.

Olympic women's champion Australia beat the Fiji women's team, known as the Fijiana, 31-0 in the final and also finished the tournament without a loss.
