CHICAGO (AP) — The city of Chicago is rocking today as Cubs fans anticipate the next three games of the World Series. The third game of the Fall Classic is tonight in Wrigley Field with the best-of-seven affair tied at 1-1. Josh Tomlin gets the ball for Cleveland against Kyle Hendricks.
BOSTON (AP) — Forward David Pastrnak of the Bruins has been suspended for two games without pay for an illegal check to the head of Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi. The play in question occurred during the second period of New York's 5-2 win over Boston on Wednesday. Pastrnak will forfeit $10,277.78 in salary during the suspension.
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The Browns have announced that Josh McCown will start at quarterback against the Jets on Sunday. The veteran signal-caller has been sidelined since Sept. 18 with a broken left collarbone. The winless Browns have used six quarterbacks in their first seven games.
LONDON (AP) — The Redskins won't have running back Matt Jones for their game Sunday in London against the Bengals. He says he won't be able to play because of a knee injury that he suffered last Sunday against the Lions. With Jones out, the Redskins will turn to Chris Thompson, who ran for a career-high 73 yards against Detroit.
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) — This week's Sprint Cup race is at Martinsville Speedway. On tap today is the qualifying for Sunday's race. The defending champion is Jeff Gordon.
