SOUTH OGDEN — Police announced Wednesday that the body of a man was found during last month's cleanup from a violent storm that ripped through northern Utah, including a tornado in Washington Terrace.
South Ogden public works crews were cleaning a culvert along Burch Creek between Adams Avenue and Washington Boulevard about 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 when they discovered the body of a man underneath tree limbs and other debris.
Police were able to identify the man, partly because of his distinctive tattoos, as Cody Wills, 28, of Ogden, said South Ogden Police Sgt. Will Dehart.
A cause of death had not been determined as of Wednesday, but Dehart said detectives do not believe he died as a result of the storm.
"Signs and indicators at the scene led investigators to believe he was deceased prior to the storm," he said.
There was no obvious trauma to the body and foul play is not suspected, according to Dehart. Investigators were waiting for toxicology tests to be completed to determine a cause of death.
