MAKING PLAYS — Football is in full swing with youth, high school, college and NFL games dotting every weekend.
Here are some of our favorite moments from the weekend in football, including BYU’s unique postgame celebration at Michigan State.
And we promise: there will be nothing about last night's presidential debate.
BYU dance battle in a postwin locker room
Speaking of BYU, Jamaal Williams and the Cougars ran roughshod over the Spartans in East Lansing, Michigan.
But Williams, aka J-Swagg Daddy because of his Twitter handle, didn’t have the best moves on the day or the second-best.
Give both those honors to head coach Kalani Sitake and director of alumni relations Jack Damuni, who put on an epic dance battle in the locker room after the win.
Youth receiver makes best catch you will see today
Move over, Odell Beckham Jr., a new wide receiver’s grab is sweeping the country.
One unnamed receiver from the Pro Titans of the WCFL youth football league in Wellington, Florida, hauled in a pass that maybe he shouldn’t have.
But instead of dropping the ball, the young player twisted, twirled and juggled until he trotted into the end zone for a touchdown. Click the video above for the full play.
Free steaks in Ann Arbor?
I’ve never been to Michigan, but my friends from the area tell me Ruth’s Chris Steak House has some of the best meat around.
The business is a sponsor of Michigan football, and offered a promotion Sunday for a 1 percent discount for every point in the margin of victory by the Wolverines against hapless Rutgers.
Those who watched college football Saturday know where this is going: Michigan won 78-0.
Did fans hit the jackpot with 78 percent a steak?
Not exactly. Among the conditions of the promotion, the steakhouse capped the promotion at 50 percent. Still, half off a steak is a pretty good deal for any Michigan fans in the area.
If you’re interested in trying Ruth’s Chris, there’s one in Salt Lake City. It did not run a similar promotion with BYU’s 31-14 win over Michigan State though.
The U. is back
Mark Richt’s return to alma mater Miami had ‘Canes fans hoping for a return to the days of old, competing for national championships and winning Atlantic Coast Conference titles.
The old U. is back, at least in one way.
After safety Jamal Carter was ejected for targeting against Florida State, Miami fans made their feelings known by hurling trash onto the field.
When the Seminoles won 20-19 on a blocked point-after attempt, the ‘Noles got the final word.
