AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas offensive lineman Kent Perkins has been arrested in Austin on a driving while intoxicated charge.
Austin police say Perkins was pulled over shortly before 3 a.m. Friday while driving near the UT campus. Perkins was taken into custody without incident.
The 21-year-old senior from Dallas was freed late Friday morning on $4,000 bond. Online jail records didn't list an attorney for Perkins.
Coach Charlie Strong, in a statement, says he's aware of the situation involving Perkins and was gathering the facts. Strong says he's disappointed with Perkins and takes a strong stance against drinking and driving.
Strong says any punishment for Perkins will decided once UT officials have more information.
The Longhorns are idle this weekend.
