ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- Police are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars worth of copper wiring from a St. George business.
Police say when employees at Wilkinson Electric showed up for work on Tuesday they found a pick-up truck, trailer and more than 20 rolls of copper wiring missing.
Instead, police found a bag of methamphetamine. Officers believe the bag fell out of one of the suspects' pockets.
Police later found the pickup and trailer abandoned at a job site in Mesquite, Nevada. Officers say they have several leads in the case.
Copper wiring is becoming a hot item for thieves to sell to scrap yards for quick cash.
