WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump says that, if he's elected president, he will reverse President Barack Obama's efforts to normalize relations with Cuba — unless the country abides by certain "demands." Trump said at a Miami rally today that those demands will include religious and political freedom for the Cuban people and the freeing of all political prisoners. Trump says he'll "stand with the Cuban people in their fight against communist oppression."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton says it's "especially tricky for women" to balance the upbeat nature of a presidential campaign with the serious national security responsibilities of the White House. In an interview to air Monday on NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Clinton says that Republicans noted she looked "so serious" during a recent forum on national security. She says you don't talk about the Islamic State group "with a big grin on your face."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are calling Donald Trump a "disgusting fraud" and are demanding that he apologize to President Barack Obama for repeatedly challenging the first African-American president's U.S. citizenship before retreating from the claim today. The black lawmakers are hoping to use the turn of events to energize not only minority voters but moderates and independents.
NEW YORK (AP) — Three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee has died in suburban New York at age 88. Albee challenged theatrical convention in masterworks such as "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "A Delicate Balance." Albee's assistant says the playwright died today at his home on Long Island. No cause of death was given. Albee was arguably America's greatest living playwright after the deaths of Arthur Miller and August Wilson in 2005.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A professional stuntman has successfully jumped over the Snake River Canyon in an ode to his boyhood idol, Evel Knievel who failed to accomplish the feat in 1974. Eddie Braun soared over the southern Idaho canyon today in a custom-built rocket dubbed "Evel Spirit." Braun hoped his effort would prove that Knievel could have done it if his parachute had deployed at the correct time. Knievel 's opened prematurely.
