(KSL News) An Orem High School teacher is on his way to the Republican National Convention because of an e-mail he thought was spam.

Glen Westbroek said, "It was really a surprise for me. I opened my e-mail up a couple of weeks ago and there was a notice in there inviting me to present on a panel."

Westbroek soon learned the invitation was from the National Education Association, and that he's the only teacher on the panel. He'll be addressing the nation's educational leaders about how to best teach the modern student.

"These students learn more by doing and by being totally engaged in the learning process. That goes into what they do with technology as well as what they do in the classroom."

It will be a quick trip for Westbroek; he leaves Monday and returns Wednesday.
