TAYLORSVILLE — Unified police officers had a busy lunch hour responding to two bank robberies within 10 minutes Tuesday in Taylorsville.

About 12:30 p.m., a man walked into Mountain America Credit Union, 5471 S. 4015 West, with a black-and-white backpack and handed the teller a note, said Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell.

"The note said that he had a gun, but none was seen and none was otherwise threatened. And no one was hurt," he said.

Witnesses got a good description of the man and the car he was last seen leaving the area in. A nearby officer spotted the vehicle and stopped it in the parking of a 7-Eleven, 3898 W. 4700 South, about five minutes later, Bell said. The officer held the driver and a passenger until backup arrived and both were taken into custody without incident.

Brothers Victor Ramirez, 20, and Jose Ramirez, 23, were arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in connection with the robbery. Police also said in a tweet that Jose Ramirez "has been linked to at least two other bank robberies at this time."

Just as police were arresting those two men, a man walked into Hercules Credit Union, 3141 W. 4700 South, wearing a gray hoodie, sunglasses and a bandana over his face, and demanded money at gunpoint, Bell said.

That man was last seen running from the bank and getting into the passenger seat of a blueish-gray Chevrolet Silverado, Bell said.

The two incidents were not believed to be related, he said.

Anyone with information about the robberies can call police at 801-743-7000.
