PLAIN CITY, Weber County — A man who police say has had an ongoing custody dispute with the mother of his children and her new boyfriend was arrested early Friday.

Jeremy Wilson, 31, was arrested after he went to a house in the 5000 West block of 1500 North in Plain City and slashed the tires on the homeowner's car and shattered the car windows just before 1 a.m., said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Nate Hutchinson. Damage to the vehicle was estimated to be several thousand dollars.

The homeowner heard the commotion and came outside to see what was happening.

"The homeowner called out to the male, when the male suspect turned and fired a gun at the homeowner. This caused the glass storm door to shatter. The homeowner fell to the floor suffering minor cuts from the broken glass," Hutchinson said.

The homeowner called 911 and deputies who happened to be in the area on patrol saw Wilson's car as he was leaving and pulled him over, according to the lieutenant. The weapon turned out to be a pellet gun.

"The homeowner shares kids with the suspect's girlfriend," Hutchinson said.

The two had been involved in a dispute for several months, he said.
