(KSL News) A fast-moving wildfire in Grand County now has burned 4,017 acres and continues to threaten homes outside of Moab.

Firefighters say lightning sparked the Porcupine Ranch fire eight miles southeast of Moab in the southern end of Castle Valley around 1:00 yesterday afternoon. Flames have moved into Miner's Basin and have spread to the Manti-LaSal National Forest.

Campers in the area have been evacuated, and Willow Basin residents are on notice for possible evacuation.

The LaSal Loop Road is now closed all the way to Geyser Pass Road, and the Sand Flats Road is closed, as well.

The fire is threatening historic cabins, archaeological sites, and residences in Willow Basin.

Two hotshot crews arrived today to help fight the fire.

Homeowners with questions about possible evacuations should call the information line at (435) 259-3766.
