(KSL News) Taylorsville Mayor Russ Wall will announce the city's new police chief this morning.
The sudden firing of former police chief Larry Marx will cost the city 42-thousand dollars.
Larry Marx believes his dismissal was retribution for being a whistle-blower against Mayor Wall for an alleged violation of privacy laws.
Wall says he simply wanted a "new direction."
Marx's two-and-a-half year contract, which had nine months remaining, called for him to receive six months' pay if fired before the contract ended.
