WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say an off-duty firefighter was shot while driving in southeast Washington, D.C.
The fire department says in a news release that the 44-year-old firefighter was hospitalized after the shooting on Saturday and is expected to survive. The man's name was not released.
Chief Gregory Dean says the prayers of the entire department are with the firefighter and his family.
Police said a person pulled up next to the firefighter's car on a motorcycle and opened fire. The man's daughter was in the car with him and was not injured.
Police have not identified any suspects.
