SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) — Officials say a bobcat that had been living at the Children's Zoo in Saginaw since 2009 has been euthanized after she had kidney failure.

The Saginaw News reports (http://bit.ly/2aRSce2 ) zoo staff attempted to change Kyra's diet to prolong her life, but she refused to eat her new food and died Sunday. In a statement, the zoo says "animal care staff made the decision to focus on making her remaining time with us as comfortable as possible."

Formerly declawed and kept as a pet, Kyra was one of many rescued animals at the Saginaw zoo. She couldn't survive in the wild.

The zoo says: "She was living the life of a spoiled bobcat surrounded by people who loved her."
