Ashley Hayes Reporting A break-in terrified a family of three women in Taylorsville. Police say the intruders didn't get the right home or the people that they were looking for.
One reason authorities suspect it was the wrong home is because the mother and her daughters hadn't lived there very long. Police say the men who raided the house were trying to find something.
Sgt. Rosie Rivera, Taylorsville Police Department: "They did have a gun and that's our concern right now is to try and find what it is. It may have been a case of mistaken identity. The victims here rent the place. They've only been here a year and there's a possibility of mistaken identity and they have th wrong family, wrong home."
Police say the men broke down the back door, kicked it in and then once inside, began spraying some type of chemical, which they now believe is pepper spray.
The men tied up the mother and her two teenage daughters at gunpoint.
The women were traumatized and experienced red and burning eyes from the spray, but didn't suffer any serious injuries. Police say the women were too traumatized to give a detailed description of their attackers, but police are looking for three men.
Because of the spray inside the home, police were slow to go inside and begin their investigation.
The only items missing were a few pieces of jewelry.
