THE LAND OF STELLAR CUTS — Here are three of our favorite videos from around the world of sports from this week for the Great Clips of the week!

1. Ball girl saves a phone-using fan from 108 mph ball

We're always going to be thankful for life-saving measures. This Los Angeles Dodgers ball girl saved a front row fan who was using his phone from catastrophe, as she backhand snagged a foul ball moments before the man flinched.

Thanks to MLB's new Statcast tool, we know that the liner was hit 108.7 MPH.

2. Russian hockey player gets incredibly creative with javelin shootout goal

Look, I don't know if this is against the rules. I suspect it probably is. But for this exhibition event in Russia for Ak Bars Kazan, Vladimir Tkachyov came up with the most creative way to use a stick and puck that I've ever seen.

He used his stick as a javelin! And threw it in the goal! I'm amazed at the audacity of such a thing.

3. Cubs pitcher makes terrific outfield catch

One of the best baseball games of the season happened Sunday night, when the Cubs came back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat the Mariners in extra innings, 7-6.

It couldn't have happened without the contributions of pitcher Travis Wood. After getting the Cubs out of a jam in the 6th inning, manager Joe Maddon kept Wood in the outfield at left field. He ended up needing to make a terrific catch at the wall to keep the Cubs alive:

Wood would later come in and pitch again in the 8th inning, again, allowing no runs. Great stuff. ![](https://beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif?cid=425970&pid=4)
