TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Police in suburban Phoenix shot and wounded an armed robbery suspect and say the man later died after barricading himself at a senior care center.
Tempe police didn't immediately release the man's name Wednesday.
They say he was briefly barricaded in a storage area of Westchester Senior Living, an assisted-living facility with about 160 residents.
There were no reports of any injuries to residents.
Police say they received a call from a Walgreens store being robbed by a man with a firearm who was looking for pharmaceuticals.
Officers arrived at the scene, saw a man matching the robber's description and chased him.
After a scuffle, police say a police officer fired at least one round at the man and wounded him.
