CLEVELAND (AP) — Donald Trump has been competing with his own convention as he previewed his Thursday night speech accepting the Republican nomination for president. Trump told Fox News Channel that the speech will be "relatively long" and will touch on national security and domestic policy.

BERLIN (AP) — Authorities in southern Germany say a teenage Afghan migrant armed with an ax and a knife attacked passengers aboard a regional train. He injured four people before he was shot and killed by police as he fled. Bavaria's top security official says authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.

PARIS (AP) — In Nice, France, mourners have been carefully removing flowers, candles and other mementoes placed along the boulevard where 84 people were killed by a truck attacker. However, things got tense at the spot where the attacker was killed by police. It had been strewn with garbage that some didn't want removed. Police moved in, and the trash was discarded.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he's ready to reinstate the death penalty if the Turkish people demand it and parliament approves it. Erdogan spoke to hundreds of supporters outside his Istanbul residence. They were chanting for Turkey to restore capital punishment following last weekend's failed coup.
