SANTA CLARA, Washington County — A bullet casing was found inside the vehicle of a missing Santa Clara man and blood on the exterior of his car, according to a Washington County Jail report.

David Corey Heisler's ex-girlfriend and another man were charged Thursday with kidnapping him from his home and assaulting him.

Heisler, 30, went missing from his Santa Clara home early on the morning of June 27, and hasn't been seen since.

Francis Lee McCard, 55, and Kelley Marie Perry, 31, both of Washington City, were arrested Tuesday and booked into the Washington County Jail. Perry is the mother of Heisler's young daughter.

On Thursday, McCard and Perry were charged in 5th District Court with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated burglary, first-degree felonies, and theft, a second-degree felony.

Perry went with McCard to Heisler's house on June 27 "and assaulted him," according to the report.

"Perry knocked on the door and when David Heisler answered the door, Frank McCard pushed Kelley Perry aside and assaulted David Heisler in the home," the report states.

Police had previously reported that blood was found inside the house.

McCard and Perry then took Heisler's car and forced him to go to an undisclosed location, according to police. Perry was dropped off at an undisclosed location near the Utah-Arizona border and "David Heisler was last seen with Frank McCard," the report states.

Heisler's vehicle was found abandoned July 1 in Beaver Dam, Arizona. The FBI, Mojave County Sherriff’s Office, and Bureau of Land Management were assisting the Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department this week in searching the area for evidence of what happened to Heisler.

Police have not given have a possible motive for the alleged kidnapping. Heisler was given full custody of his and Perry's 6-year-old daughter about two weeks before he disappeared. The young girl was with her mother on vacation when he went missing. The child is currently in the custody of Heisler's family.

Perry is also currently facing unrelated felony drug possession charges. She was scheduled to make a possible plea deal in that case on Aug. 15, according to court records.
