Tonya Papanikolas reporting One person is dead after a suspicious fire tore through a duplex in Ogden early this morning.

While fire investigators look into what caused the fire, police are trying to question everyone who came to the house last night.

There were apparently quite a few people at the duplex, and police say they are still looking for a couple individuals they haven't talked to yet.

Many neighbors in the Ogden subdivision say they awoke to the sound of glass shattering in the early morning hours.

Clifford Woods, Lives Behind Burned House: "We all ran outside, thinking it was our vehicles, and we looked in the back of this house, where the sliding glass door is in the back, we could just see little flames, and probably 30-45 seconds later, the whole back of the house was engulfed."

Chelsea Gould, Neighbor: "The glass broke out and flames just shot right up, and everything started smoking."

When firefighters arrived, they quickly entered the home to see if anyone was inside. They found one person dead.

Fire chief Dave Owens says the victim was so badly burned, he couldn't immediately tell if the body was a male or female.

Those who lived in the duplex say it was their relative.

David Wilson, Victim's Nephew: "She's about the best aunt I could ever have."

Police aren't releasing the woman's name until an autopsy is complete. But firefighters admit the fire is suspicious.

Dep. Chief Dave Owens, Ogden Fire Dept.: "We've ruled out all the accidental factors. It's not electrical where it started. There were some things going on here last night that raised an eyebrow."

All fire crews will say, is several people were here last night having a good time.

Some neighbors told us before the fire, they heard glass break in the front of the house. Some also describe seeing a car leave around this time.

"We came home about 3:00, 3;15, and as we were coming down the road, we seen a car back out of the driveway."

But firefighters say the blaze started on the main floor in the back of the duplex.

David Wilson, Lived in the Home: "The whole downstairs is burnt. But the fire didn't make it too far up the stairs."

As police and fire crews investigate, family and neighbors are dealing with the devastating news.

David Wilson: "Makes me mad, makes me sad, makes me do everything i can to help. I don't know what there is I can do."

Greg Kelly, Neighbor: "It's kind of scary. I was hoping that everybody got out."

Chelsea Gould: "It's pretty frightening to think that somebody died right across the street from my house."

The victim's nephew says he was not at the house last night, but he claims police told him there may have been some kind of fight before the fire.

The autopsy will be available tomorrow, and will likely reveal more about how the woman died.
