NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are ending the day solidly higher following a two day slide triggered by Britain's vote to leave the European Union. Energy stocks made some of the biggest gains thanks to an increase in the price of crude oil. Bank stocks that were hard hit by the "leave" vote also rose. The Dow gained 269 points to 17,409. The S&P gained 35 to 2,036. And the Nasdaq climbed 97 points to 4,691. European markets saw even bigger gains.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is trying to salvage an ambitious experiment to confront rising drug costs. A top Medicare official has hinted that the administration is weighing modifications to its plan for revamping payment for medications administered in a doctor's office. Affected are most chemotherapy drugs, as well as injected and infused medications for macular degeneration, rheumatoid arthritis, some immune diseases and other conditions. Cancer doctors want the plan scrapped.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court will consider whether Miami can sue major banks over allegations they engaged in a decade-long pattern of discriminatory lending practices that harmed the city. The justices say they will hear appeals from Wells Fargo and Bank of America arguing that the city is not authorized to sue under the Fair Housing Act. Miami claims the banks targeted African-American and Hispanic borrowers for predatory loans that carried more risk, higher costs and steeper fines than loans offered to white customers.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google is trying to make it easier for you to manage the vast pool of information it collects about your online activities across phones, computers and other devices. A new data-storage tool will enable people who use Google's search engine and other services to block certain ads from appearing on every device they log into, instead of having to make a special request on each individual machine. Google is also introducing a "My Activity" feature that will enable users to delete records of their online search requests in a single location.

HAVANA (AP) —Starwood is opening up one of the biggest holes yet in the U.S. trade embargo on Cuba and has begun managing a hotel owned by the Cuban military. The American hotel giant says a contract with the Cuban Defense Ministry's rapidly expanding tourism wing went into effect Tuesday. Travelers can book rooms at the 180-room hotel in Havana through Starwood's website.
