CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- A former student has filed a civil lawsuit against Southern Utah University claiming the school discriminated against him because of his age, disability and veteran status.
Dave Brown says SUU denied his financial aid for the Spring 2006 semester because records showed Brown had exceed the class credit limits alloted for government-funded education.
The Vietnam veteran says he had dropped classes and suffered a relapse of post-traumatic stress disorder that year, so he still should have been eligible.
SUU legal counsel Michael Carter rejects Brown's discrimination claims but says he can't comment on pending litigation.
