OGDEN, Utah (AP) — County officials in Utah say they never acted on a proposal to temporarily finance the $3.8 million purchase of a gun range using money from the county's paramedic fund.
Weber County Commission Chairman Kerry Gibson told The Standard-Examiner last week that the May 2014 proposal for a fund transfer was never acted on.
The paramedic fund appears as a line item on local property taxes and is a special account designed to finance paramedic service and equipment. Weber County comptroller Scott Parke says the money in the paramedic fund comes from general fund cash, meaning that the transfer would never have come directly out of the paramedic fund.
Parke said the gun range was purchased with money from the general fund.
