SPRINGVILLE — Welcome to KSL Golf. We’re at Hobble Creek golf club in Springville, where Saturday and Sunday is the Sunny Braun Art City amateur — one of the majors on the Utah golf circuit.

The top amateurs will be here, where recent Utah State grad Seokwon Jeon won the event a year ago by shooting 9-under.

Seokwon won’t be back to defend his title, though, as he has turned pro. But first, the U.S. Open at Oakmont in Pennsylvania was won by Dustin Johnson, his first career major title. Farmington native Danny Summerhays finished tied for eighth, which qualifies him for next year’s U.S. Open.

The former BYU golfer was back home at Davis Park preparing for the tournament last week, and he gave KSL Golf an all-access look into a lesson from his swing coach, older brother Boyd Summerhays, as they fine-tuned his game to help Danny win his first PGA Tour event.
