SALT LAKE CITY — Miss Northern Utah County Lauren Wilson was crowned Miss Utah 2016 Saturday night at the Capitol Theatre.
Wilson will travel around for the next year speaking about her platform about suicide awareness and prevention and serving as a Utah ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network.
She will also compete in September’s Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, representing Utah.
Wilson, a graduate of Utah Valley University, also received a $10,000 scholarship and a new car.
Miss Orem Jesse Craig received first runner-up Saturday, earning a $3,000 scholarship. Miss Heart of Utah JessiKate Riley earned a $1,500 scholarship as second runner-up. Third runner-up Miss Springville/Mapleton Madison Monson earned a $800 scholarship, and fourth runner-up Miss Roy D’Mia Lamar earned a $600 scholarship.
In addition, eight semi-finalists each earned a $600 scholarship.
