(KSL News) -- Salt Lake County announced a new program to help Utahns fight obesity.
The program, "Weigh Active and Healthy", is an eight week program that encourages people to be active for at least 15 minutes a day, four days a week.
Participants track their progress and become eligible for prizes.
To kick-off the program, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon challenged county residents and city mayors to a mayor's cup competition.
Peter Corroon, Salt Lake County Mayor: "To all our mayors in Salt Lake County, let's get out there and walk and show our community and set an example for our citizens, and lose the weight that I think some of us need to lose."
Weigh Active and Healthy starts August 14. You can find more information and sign up for the program online at www.slvhealth.org, at any county parks and rec facility, senior center or library.
