WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden isn't among the prominent Democrats urging Bernie Sanders to end his presidential campaign -- at least, not publicly. Biden told reporters today that it's up to Sanders to make that decision. He says, "Give him time." Hillary Clinton won four of the six states holding primaries yesterday, as the race for the Democratic nomination all but drew to a close.
WASHINGTON (AP) — You may not have heard the last of the criticism of Donald Trump from House Speaker Paul Ryan. An aide to Ryan says the speaker told House Republicans today that he will continue to criticize Trump when necessary. But Ryan reaffirmed his support for Trump at today's closed-door meeting. That's according to a lawmaker who was there. Ryan endorsed Trump last week after initially withholding his support. And he's taken issue with Trump's comments about an American-born judge whose parents were from Mexico.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Hospitals in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area say one person is in critical condition and two more are in serious condition after a pickup truck plowed into a group of bicyclists. Five people were killed last night and at least four were injured. Police say the 50-year-old pickup driver was driving erratically before hitting the group in Cooper Township. They say the driver fled on foot but is now in custody.
DETROIT (AP) — The mother of a young man who is being released from prison after eight years says she feels "blessed" after the prosecutor agreed that convictions in four killings should be thrown out. Davontae Sanford is scheduled to be released from a prison in western Michigan this afternoon, a day after a Detroit-area judge dismissed his 2008 second-degree murder convictions. At age 15, Sanford pleaded guilty to killing four people in a Detroit drug den. But a hit man has long said that police and prosecutors had the wrong guy.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A spokesman for Muhammad Ali's family says he's "disgusted and amazed" that people would try to profit from the memorial service for the late boxing champ. People lined up for hours to get four free tickets for Friday's service, to be held in a 15,000-seat arena. The tickets were gone in about an hour. And some ticket-holders immediately went online, offering theirs for sale. Ali had insisted that the tickets for his memorial service be free.
