SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Most Utah policies agencies regularly submit hate crime reports to the FBI, but eight small agencies haven't sent a single report over the last six years, illustrating a nationwide problem of agencies failing to report all crimes to the FBI. An investigation by The Associated Press identified more than 2,700 city and county law enforcement agencies around the country that did not file any hate crime reports with the FBI between 2009 and 2014.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The governor's half-brother is jailed on suspicion of enticing a minor online. Utah County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon said 56-year-old Paul Gordon Peters was chatting online with a police detective who pretended to be a 13-year-old girl. Peters was arrested in Provo where the two agreed to meet and is in Utah County Jail where his cash-only bail was set at $25,000.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's Division of State History has completed a three-year effort to scan nearly 120,000 records of archaeological sites into an online database. Arie Leeflang, the archaeological records manager for the division's Antiquities Section, says the database will make it easier for researchers to access information.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah voters this month will pick candidates in key races for governor and U.S. Senate and narrow the field in dozens of other races. More than two-thirds of Utah counties are conducting the June 28 primary election mostly by mail.
