HERRIMAN — About $3,000 in damage was caused during a vandalism spree at Rosecrest Park over the holiday weekend.
On Sunday, someone or a group of people damaged a restroom at the park, 13850 W. Rosecrest Road. A city employee noticed the damage Sunday night during a routine check.
"We're looking at about $3,000 in damage,” Herriman spokeswoman Tami Moody said. “There were branches torn off of trees, there were three toilet tanks that were broken, and they unraveled all of the toilet paper in our restrooms, shoved it down the drains and turned the water on, so it flooded our bathrooms."
Most of the damage has been fixed, but some of the damaged trees may not make it, Moody said.
“It’s disheartening when an event like this takes place,” she said. "This is just destructive behavior that has a negative impact on the community, and in a way threatens the public’s feeling of safety,” Moody said.
Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
