(KSL News) Salt Lake City's new planning director says he is glad to be working in the state capital.
"Salt Lake has always been a great place and a special place for me. To have the opportunity to lead the planning effort is something I am really looking forward to," said Wilford Sommerkorn.
Sommerkorn has been working in Davis County as the director of community and economic development. He is being seen as a new hope for a division that auditors have called dysfunctional.
Mayor Ralph Becker says Sommerkorn will bring consistency and "innovative practices" to the planning division.
Sommerkorn will begin his new job in two weeks.
