It's almost back-to-school time for school children around the state, and teachers are hoping the students come back ready to learn.

Betty Roberts is just about to start her 29th year of teaching school. She's hoping her elementary students come back with a good attitude, ready to learn.

Roberts is also hoping the students did something other than play over the break, and she says parents should play a roll in that summer learning.

"Read every day, and read with them, and do some everyday mental math with them. Send them to the store, give ‘em a budget," she suggested.

Roberts says the first week of school is actually one of her favorite weeks. "Everyone's on their best behavior, so it's some of the best times," she said.

Roberts also suggests parents make sure their children are getting back to the school sleeping pattern so they can get to class on time.
