Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has added another state to his tally against Hillary Clinton with a win in West Virginia Tuesday. But playing catch up for Sanders appears to be an almost impossible task, with Clinton 94 percent of the way to winning the nomination. Republican Donald Trump has won Tuesday's primaries in West Virginia and Nebraska, a week after he cleared the field of his remaining rivals.
NEW YORK (AP) — Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says he's narrowed his list of potential running mates to "five or six" people and is leaning against accepting public money to finance a fall campaign against likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump also says he does not plan to release his tax returns before the November election. He says, "There's nothing to learn from them."
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The son of a former Pakistani prime minister who was freed from kidnappers in a dramatic military rescue in Afghanistan has been handed over to Pakistan's ambassador in Kabul. Ali Haidar Gilani was rescued during a joint U.S. -Afghan commando raid on an al-Qaida compound near the Pakistani border on Tuesday, after three years of captivity. His father, Yusuf Raza Gilani served as prime minister from 2008 to 2012.
MIAMI (AP) — Relatives of the victims of ValuJet Flight 592 are meeting in the Florida Everglades today to mark the 20th anniversary of their deaths. The May 11, 1996, crash killed 110 passengers and crew. The plane, that was supposed to fly to Atlanta, crashed in the Everglades while trying to make an emergency return to Miami.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police in Los Angeles are telling people in the market for a laptop to be careful if the price seems too good to be true. Police say that last Friday, five robbers stole an estimated $3 million worth of laptops at gunpoint from a warehouse in the Harbor Gateway area. Police tell KABC-TV that that one gunman tied up a security guard while the other robbers hauled away more than 7,600 Dell Inspiron laptops.
