SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Members of the public will be able to weigh in later this month on a pared-back plan to expand Medicaid in Utah.
Utah's Department of Health has scheduled public hearings for the plan on May 19 and May 25 in Salt Lake City.
The proposal is expected to be open for public comment in May through early June. Utah will submit it to federal officials in July for approval.
The plan would insure about 16,000 adults, far fewer than the expansion proposed by President Barack Obama's health law.
Details about the plan and meetings will be posted on the Utah Department of Health's website at health.utah.gov.
The plan is expected to cost Utah about $30 million. The federal government would contribute about $70 million.
