UNDATED (AP) — Fire forecasters say Hawaii, Alaska and the Southwest will face an above-average threat of wildfires this summer. The National Interagency Fire Center released its outlook for the spring and summer on Sunday. It says most of the country will face normal or below-normal wildfire problems. That's welcome news after last year, when a record 15,800 square miles burned nationwide.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The city of Boise has halted the remodel of an apartment complex housing mostly refugees because the owners do not have the proper permits. KTVB-TV reports that the city spokesman Mike Journee says that officials discovered the illegal renovations at Glenbrook Apartments while inspecting the property.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Boise Police Department says appointing an officer to serve as a LGBT liaison has helped build trust inside the community. The Idaho Statesman reports that the police department appointed patrol officer Dan Lister nearly a year ago. Police Chief Bill Bones says he created the position to alleviate mistrust of police, particularly among those hesitant to report crimes for fear of poor police treatment.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — House Speaker Scott Bedke hasn't faced a legislative opponent _ Republican or Democrat _ in more than a decade, but that hasn't stopped him from raising and spending tens of thousands of dollars on his caucus and personal expenses. Campaign finance reports show that Bedke consistently raises the most cash in election years as an unopposed candidate, but he's not alone. It's a common, and legal practice.
