SALT LAKE CITY — Three fun and cool stories from the world of sports in today's From Left Field!

1. Conor McGregor tweets that he's retiring

This one's a little bit weird. Conor McGregor, probably MMA's biggest current star, tweeted yesterday that he is going to "retire young."

I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.
Catch ya's later.

Now, is he serious? Maybe. He lost his last fight to Nate Diaz, who he's slated to fight against on July 9. But maybe he just wants more money or publicity for the event?

Or, maybe, McGregor's reacting to the fighting death of fellow MMAer Joao Carvalho, who last week died two days after being beaten by his opponent in a match McGregor attended.

Whatever it is, the tweet's certainly getting a lot of attention.

2. Here are some dogs playing baseball

On a lighter note, here's Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund and his brother playing baseball.

This video was not at all edited and represents what exactly happened from each of the two participants.

3. World record setting ski rail grind

X-Games gold medalist Tom Wallisch set out to obliterate the world record by sliding on this 424-foot rail on skis. It took him several days, but he ended up getting it by the end.

Pretty cool stuff.
