KEARNS — Two people were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday.

About 8:30 a.m., a gold Cadillac and a gold Chevrolet vehicle collided near 5400 South and 5400 West.

"It appears the gold Cadillac crossed the lanes and veered to the left, striking the gold Chevy head-on," said Unified police Sgt. Jared Richardson.

Emergency crews had to extricate the driver of the Cadillac, a man in his early to mid-40s. He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. Whether the man went into on-coming traffic due possibly to distraction, a medical condition, drugs or alcohol was unknown as of Tuesday morning.

The 35-year-old woman in the Chevy was also transported to a local hospital in serious condition and later upgraded to fair, Richardson said.

No arrests were made or citations issued as of Tuesday morning.

Three lanes were closed in the area in both directions and are expected to open around 12:45 p.m. There are 5 to 15-minute delays in the area, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

More details will be posted as they become available.
