KEARNS — A woman died Sunday after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle.

Connie Stewart Marconato, 56, of Kearns, was hit while riding her bike across the intersection at 5415 S. Northwestern Ave. (4700 West) about 9:15 p.m. She was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a Hyundai making a left turn, according to Unified police.

Marconato, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered severe head trauma, according to Unified police.

Unified Police detective Jared Richardson said the adult male driver of the vehicle stopped after the crash. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.

Detectives were still investigating what color the traffic lights were for the bicyclist and the vehicle at the time of the crash. The area is poorly lit, and Marconato was wearing dark clothing, according to police.

No citations had been issued against the driver as of Monday. Police said the case remained under investigation.
