PARK CITY — A Kamas man accused of driving the wrong way on I-80, hitting a Park City woman head-on and killing her, had a half-empty bottle of bourbon in his vehicle and a blood-alcohol content nearly 3 ½ times the legal limit, according to charging documents.
Stuart Riley Miller, 30, was charged Thursday in Summit County's 3rd District Court with automobile homicide, a second-degree felony; and having an open container in a vehicle, a class C misdemeanor.
According to charging documents, Miller had a blood-alcohol content of 0.279 and was drinking from a bottle of Jim Beam while driving home in a GMC Yukon when he entered I-80 at Kimball Junction going the wrong way.
Just a mile later, Miller hit a Saturn Vue head-on, killing Amanda K. Streit, 39, of Park City, the charges state. Witnesses said Miller was going about 90 mph when the crash happened.
After the crash, Miller was outside walking around his vehicle, witnesses told investigators.
When Utah Highway Patrol troopers interviewed Miller at the hospital, he had bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath, the charges state.
Prosecutors say Miller is a flight risk and they requested a higher than normal bail. Bail was set at $50,000. An initial appearance in court is scheduled for Monday.
Streit was known as an outgoing woman who loved the outdoors and Zumba dancing.
