BRUSSELS (AP) — Police in Belgium continue to hunt for a surviving Brussels bomber. Meanwhile, evidence is mounting that the same Islamic State cell carried out the attacks in both Paris and Brussels. Prosecutors say the militants may have launched the Brussels attack that killed 31 victims in haste because they feared authorities were closing in on them.
BOSTON (AP) — Boston's top law enforcement official says the attacks in Belgium have added a sense of urgency to securing next month's Boston Marathon. At the same time, Police Commissioner William Evans tells The Associated Press he has no information suggesting a specific threat against the marathon, which was targeted in 2013.
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Democrat Hillary Clinton is pledging to defeat the Islamic State group and arguing her opponents are not up to the task. Speaking at Stanford University in California, Clinton took issue with Republican Ted Cruz's talk about carpet-bombing IS, saying — quote — "slogans aren't a strategy."
NEW YORK (AP) — Ted Cruz says Donald Trump's tweet that threatened to "spill the beans" on his wife is "gutter politics" and "reached a new low." Trump issued a vague threat to disclose something about Heidi Cruz. This, after an outside political group posted an ad featuring a provocative photo of Melania Trump from her modeling days.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina legislators have passed a bill to prevent local governments from setting their own anti-discrimination rules. The Republican-controlled General Assembly acted after the Charlotte City Council approved a measure that would allow transgender people to use the restroom aligned with their gender identity.
