LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Reseachers at Utah State University's Center for Persons with Disabilities will get a federal grant to promote support services programs for children with special heath care needs nationwide.
The one-point-six-(M)million dollar grant is from the U-S Maternal and Child Health Bureau and will be funded over four years.
U-S-U researcher Adrienne Akers says the grant will fund the Champions for Inclusive Communities Program to help states create programs and service networks for kids with disabilities.
Akers says a goal of the grant is to ensure that kids and their parents can access needed services in the local communities.
Another goal of the project is to create playgrounds and recreational activities for kids with disabilities.
