HUNTSVILLE, Weber County — A Pennsylvania man was critically injured in a snowboarding accident Monday afternoon near Snowbasin Resort, police said.

The 25-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital for his injuries, which included severe head trauma, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay.

Snowbasin officials told the sheriff's office that the man was a short distance out of bounds from the resort at the time of the accident. He reportedly hit a rocky area just before his fall. The resort reported the man tumbled several hundred feet, Findlay said.

The man was not wearing a helmet, according to the lieutenant. He was snowboarding alone at the time of the accident.
