SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The American Legion meets in Salt Lake City next month. But convention organizers say some veterans will stay home because of Salt Lake City's outspoken mayor.
Mayor Rocky Anderson has been a very public opponent of the Iraq war, and President Bush's policies.
Anderson plans to protest when Bush comes to speak to Legionnaires on August 30th.
Jeff Olson, of Minnesota, is chairman of a committee that picks the site for the annual Legion convention. In his words, Anderson's comments "absolutely" have turned off some Legion members.
Georgia will send about 150 Legionnaires -- one hundred less than usual.
