(KSL News) A fire burning in Provo Canyon has forced the Forest Service to shut down some recreational areas.
The Bridal Veil Fire started late last week and has scorched about 40 acres. However, the terrain is so rough, it's difficult for fire crews to fight the blaze.
Kim Osborn, with the U.S. Forest Service, said, "It is real rugged up there because there's a lot of cliffs, rocky, and it's real steep. So we had to take some time to re-converse to make sure it was safe to have our firefighters up there."
The fire has burned through an old restaurant and tram but isn't threatening any structures now.
In the meantime, recreation areas between Nuns Park and Viviane Park are closed while fire crews try to get a handle on the blaze.
