SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- State wildlife officials will open a warm-water fish hatchery next month.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will break ground on its first new hatchery in 32 years Aug. 4 at the Lee Kay Center for Hunter Education and public shooting range.
The state has rights to 90 acre feet of water from an artesian well and plans to create 12 ponds. There, the state will raise brood stock warm-water species in the 72-degree water.
