(KSL News) A baseball diamond in Salt Lake City will now bear the name of a man who has dedicated many years to the young people in the city.
The Salt Lake City Council adopted a resolution last night naming the diamond after Robert W. Jones. The diamond is located just north of the tennis courts in Sunnyside Park.
Jones served as a manager, organizer and chief fundraiser for the community-sponsored Emigration Baseball League for more than 35 years. During that time, he was a role model for more than 7,000 young people.
At the council meeting, former coaches and players stood and applauded Jones for his contributions.
