Sam Penrod reporting A Cedar City man is dead following a bizarre shooting in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart.

The question tonight: Was this shooting a case of self defense or a murder? That's what police are trying to sort out right now, as a Cedar City family mourns for the victim.

Police say a family from Florida parked a motorhome behind the Wal Mart store in Cedar City, They were camping for the night, when a Cedar City man approached the motor home about 10 o clock last night.

Lt. David Holm, Cedar City Police Dept.:"There was a knock at their door, they answered their door and the individual , Mr Steven Stubbs age 26 of cedar city, allegedly forced his way in to the motor home and there was a struggle and during the struggle one shot was fired."

According to police, someone in the motorhome used a shotgun and shot Stubbs once in the head.

Lt. David Holm, Cedar City Police Dept.: "Officers responded to a shots fired man down...call they arrived at the scene and there was an obvious fatality."

Investigators won't identify who fired the shot, but Eyewitness News has learned the motorhome is registered to Carl Coltellino of Cape Coral Florida.

State law allows for deadly force in certain circumstances, leaving police tonight trying to figure out if the shooter was justified in killing Stubbs.

Lt. David Holm, Cedar City Police Dept.: "One of the things we've got to determine in this investigation is if this level of force used was justified or not. That will be a big factor in the investigation."

The family of four involved in the shooting is still in the area tonight and police say they are cooperating in the investigation.

Police are expected to release more information tomorrow.
