MILLCREEK — Two men have pleaded guilty to committing a drive-by shooting that sent 19 rounds into the bedroom of a sleeping baby last summer.

Jordan James Hansen, 20, whose alias is listed as "Goofy," and 19-year-old Tyrel Maleek Foreman, who goes by the moniker "Lucky Loc," were both charged last year with 29 second-degree felony counts of discharging a firearm — one for every shell casing recovered at the scene.

Of the 29 shots that Foreman and Hansen are accused of firing, 19 rounds went into a bedroom where an 18-month-old girl was sleeping, coming dangerously close to the child's crib, police said. A 2-year-old boy was in an adjacent room.

Hansen pleaded guilty Friday to two of the 29 counts while the rest were dismissed. Foreman, who the Metro Gang Unit had listed as one of its top 10 most wanted fugitives, pleaded guilty Jan. 8 to two of the counts in an identical plea deal.

Hansen is scheduled to be sentenced March 8, while sentencing for Foreman has been set for May 13.

At the time of the July 21 shooting, the girl's father said that the only thing that appeared to have saved his daughter was that her crib was pressed directly against the wall under the window, where the exterior wall below the window was made of brick.

Investigators believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, noting that the couple had lived in the apartment, 4545 S. Atherton Drive (1075 West), for only three months. They moved out immediately following the shooting.

Hansen told investigators that he, Foreman and two other individuals drove to the apartment in a stolen car, and that Foreman and the others shot at an apartment that they believed was occupied by a rival gang member, according to charging documents.

Foreman also pleaded guilty this month in a separate gang-related shooting case in South Salt Lake, which occurred two days before the shooting at the apartment. Charges against Hansen related to the shooting were dismissed.

In that incident, police say Foreman, Hansen and others were reportedly driving the same stolen car when they came upon a 16-year-old boy who Hansen described as a "rival gang member."

Foreman allegedly attempted to fight the teen, who fled on foot with friends. Foreman indicated that another individual in the car later shot at the teen, hitting him once in the leg, while Hansen reported it was Foreman who fired the shots, according to the charges.

Foreman pleaded guilty to one count of felony discharge of a firearm, a second-degree felony, while four third-degree felony charges were dismissed.
