DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Quinton Chievous scored 20 points, including a short jumper with five seconds left, to help Hampton beat North Carolina Central 80-79 Monday night.

Brian Darden stole the inbound pass to seal the win.
Johnson led Hampton (10-7, 6-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic) with 26 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Lawrence Cooks added 13 points.
N.C. Central (7-13, 2-4) was paced by Patrick Cole with 28 points, six rebounds and four assists. Rashaun Madison scored 12 points, while Dante Holmes and Jeremiah Ingram both added 11 points.
