South Carolina State holds off Delaware State for 90-79 win

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Eric Eaves and Ed Stephens scored 22 points apiece to help South Carolina State beat Delaware State 90-79 on Saturday.

Stephens hit a career-high seven 3-pointers while Eaves added six rebounds and five assists. Ty Solomon finished with 13 points and Gabe McCray scored 12 for South Carolina State (9-10, 4-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Bulldogs have won four in a row and scored at least 90 points in each of their last three games.

Delaware State (1-15, 0-2) made just 10 of 29 (35.7 percent) field goal attempts in the first half and trailed 51-33 at the break, but hit eight 3-pointers after halftime and rallied to tie it at 68 with about five minutes left.

South Carolina State scored 22 of the final 33 points.

Devin Morgan Jr. led Delaware State with 21 points. Scott Sill hit four 3s and scored 12 — both career highs.
