WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was killed in a single-car accident early Saturday, but little is known about how the accident happened.

Witnesses weren't close by and didn't see the accident happen, but called when they saw a vehicle upside-down in the roadway near 4100 S. 5600 West about 3 a.m., according to West Valley Police Sgt. Bryan Peterson. He said responding officers found one deceased man lying several dozen feet from the vehicle.

Peterson said the car appears to have been traveling east, crossed into westbound lanes and then overcorrected, hitting a berm which caused the car to roll and possibly eject the driver. The man's name was not released, pending notification of family.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the accident. Peterson said he doesn't believe other vehicles were involved and said he'd "guess that speeding was a factor."
